Description

More than a neighborhood restaurant, Union Oyster House is a local landmark that has been a part of Union Street for over 250 years. What started as a clothing store in the early 16th century became a seafood house in 1826. The new owners, Atwood and Bacon, installed the now fabled semi circular oyster bar, frequented by Daniel Webster who is said to have ate a half dozen oysters with every tumbler of ale he ordered. Upstairs is the "Kennedy Room," a dining space dedicated to President John F. Kennedy who frequented the House and enjoyed private meals there. Today Union Oyster serves up seafood any way you'd like—broiled, fried or baked in traditional New England fashion, with an entire section of the menu devoted to Union lobster specials.
