American Classics, devoted to giving voice to forgotten gems and newly discovered American musical treasures, presents its concert "A Novel Idea." Continuing this year's literary theme, singers Jean Danton, Michelle Deluise, Davron Monroe, Benjamin Sears, and pianist Bradford Connorwill perform songs from Broadway shows and Hollywood films based on classic novels, shorts stories, and other books. Featured will be songs from Show Boat, The King & I (Anna and the King of Siam), Pal Joey (from the short stories by John O’Hara), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Roberta (Gowns By Roberta), and Gypsy (Gypsy: A Memoir).
On Sunday, February 5 the concert is performed with a special dinner prepared by Chef Markus Ripperger at Boston’s celebrated Hampshire House, starting with dinner at 6 p.m.
