On Friday, Oct. 14, hundreds of foodies will unite and enjoy a dine-around experience generously donated by local restaurants during Party Under the Harvest Moon, an annual benefit for Food For Free. The event will include food and beverages generously donated by local restaurants and caterers, live music and a silent auction. The goal is to raise $70,000.
Car Talk’s Ray Magliozzi, WBUR’s Here and Now host Robin
Young, owner of the Comedy Studio, Rick Jenkins and Executive Director of Food
For Free, Sasha Purpura will lead the evening, serving as the night’s emcees
and special guests. One Thin Dime will perform local favorites. Auction items
will include a week-long stay at a Chandler Cottage in Manomet, Mass., a
weekend getaway in Cape Cod, the Berkshires, Vermont or New Hampshire, tickets
from Southwest Airlines, a private tour from the rooftop farm at Fenway Park,
and more!
All proceeds from the event go directly to support the nonprofit’s food rescue, school and transportation programs. Since 1981, Cambridge-based Food For Free, has responded to local hunger by rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste, and distributing it to local emergency food programs including food pantries, youth programs, shelters, and more.
Party Under the Harvest Moon will take place from 6 to 10
p.m. at MIT’s Morss Hall, located at 142 Memorial Drive in Cambridge.
