On August 26, 1976, Faneuil Hall Marketplace was renovated into the premier urban destination that it is today, exactly 150 years after the original market was opened in 1826 by Mayor Josiah Quincy. At the 40th Anniversary Celebration on August 26 - 28, 2016 we travel back in time to 1976.  The festivities kick off on August 26th with entertainment from world-renowned Street Performers. It is followed by a 70’s Dance Concert on August 27th and concludes with “Roll Back” Pricing” in the Food Colonnade and restaurants on August 28th.

Friday, August 26, 2016: Street Performer Showcase

Faneuil Hall Marketplace will host its world-class street buskers across the Marketplace from 11 am – 9 pm. 

Saturday, August 27, 2016: 70’s Dance Party and 9th Annual Car Show

Come celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Faneuil Hall Marketplace with a free 70’s Dance Party on the West End of the Marketplace.  Live 70’s music will be performed from 1 – 6 pm and will feature the following artists: 1 PM Bernard Fullen, 2-4 PM The Sugarbabies, 4-6 PM Vinyl Groove.

The Boston Area MG Club is holding a car show. On display will be a wide variety of unique, antique cars accompanied by their owners.

Sunday, August 28, 2016: “Roll Back Pricing” and Red Sox Showcase

From 3-6 pm, merchants in the Quincy Market Food Colonnade as well as restaurants will offer one food item for the same price that it was available for back in 1976!

The Red Sox Showcase is a free experience which features a remake of the Green Monster wall, along with a batting cage with personalized walk up music, a virtual reality experience, pitching station, a steal 2nd base challenge, and Red Sox Jenga.
