Now returning for her third Harborwalk Sounds is audience favorite Wambura Mitaru. The classically trained Nairobi, Kenya, native has performed throughout the world, receiving acclaim for both covers and original songs that pay tribute to African history and tradition. Her new single, “Work in Progress,” which she performed with gifted band the Maua on a rooftop construction site in hard hats, is a sophisticated hybrid of soul, R&B, and jazz. This eclectic mix is something the band is relentlessly dedicated to and that they work to perfect in their animated performances. Complete with catchy lyrics, which Mitaru encourages the audience to sing along, and a captivating, robust vocal performance, Mitaru and the Maua’s live performances never fail to delight.
