Celebrating a SIXTH year of shaking up East Somerville, Carnaval@Somerstreets returns! It will shut down East Broadway by creating space for residents to walk, run, and ride. Enjoy the best of the East Broadway Business District and East Somerville Community including food, music, and culture from around the world!

The festival kicks off with a MOTION PARADE at noon! Starting at the Cross Street Senior Center and featuring organizations and music like Bloco AfroBrazil, Samba Viva, Open Air Circus and Loma Larga.

Keep your feet moving in our bouncy house and obstacle course, get on stilts with Open Air Circus and on scaffolding with Parkour Generations Americas, and play with Somerville Recreation in their relay races, soccer, paddle tennis, parachute activities and other games for younger kids. Family makerspace Parts and Crafts will be there doing awesome kids activities at the MUSCRAT Bus. Check out music throughout the day on TWO stages! Acts include Samba Viva with Grupo Camarote, Opposite People, Grupo Los Nitidos, Bloco AfroBrazil, Mariachi los Viajeros de Mexico, and The Gravel Project. In our community performance area stage enjoy Onstage Dance Company, El Sistema, and Pete ‘Afro D’ Shungu . Tunes will be spun by local DJ Soto.

Carnaval @ Somerville Streets is organized in partnership by the City of Somerville, the Somerville Arts Council and East Somerville Main Streets. It is apart of the City’s open streets initiative where streets are closed to cars and open to you!
