Description

Many fish populations globally are in decline, due to changing ecosystems, habitat loss and fishing pressure. Even New England’s famed Atlantic cod is struggling, bringing this global challenge very close to home. How can fishermen and scientists work together to save our fisheries? Can innovative solutions change the paradigm?

On June 15, The Nature Conservancy’s Future of Nature 2015 Boston Speaker Series continues at the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts with “The Future of the Fish: Can We Bring Global Fisheries Back from the Brink?”

Moderated by WBUR’s Deborah Becker, “The Future of Fish” will bring together panelists Roger Berkowitz, President and CEO of Legal Sea Foods; Paul Greenberg, author of “Four Fish” and “American Catch;” John Pappalardo, CEO of the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance; and Mike Tetreault, executive director of The Nature Conservancy in Maine.

A special hour-long reception will include provisions from the Aquaculture Research Corporation of Dennis, Mass., Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery This is in addition to catering by Beverly, Mass.-based sustainable event design and catering company, Chive Events.

The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. The panel discussion will run from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. and include questions from the audience.
