Hailed by the Boston Musical Intelligencer for delivering a "smashbang debut" to a "packed house," The Henry Purcell Society of Boston presents its second concert with a rare performance of Purcell's "Te Deum and Jubilate" alongside selected works from the life and death of Queen Mary II with a choir of talented established and emerging singers, plus the treble voices of All Saints Parish, Brookline and All Saints Ashmont. Purcell’s seminal work was the first of its kind in English Church music, with a modern, flamboyant verse anthem and an orchestra of strings, trumpets and continuo, and is the cornerstone of a moving program of music for one of Purcell’s most important patrons.
