Chameleon Arts Ensemble presents a luminous chamber music program featuring five works of rhapsody and reverie, dreams and magic. Gabriel Fauré’s Cinq mélodies “de Venise” for soprano and piano animates moonlit scenes by the great French poet Paul Verlaine while Andrea Clearfield’s Unremembered Wings for oboe and piano explores the mysterious and wild place where dreams become manifest. Helen Grime’s Seven Pierrot Miniatures are shimmering reflections on the mercurial, moondrunk clown, and Debussy’s Première rhapsodie for clarinet and piano is a miniature masterpiece of beauty and poetry. Finally, Mendelssohn works his magic with a glorious chamber concerto of elegant, sparkling brilliance—the D Major Sextet for piano and strings.
